Mary Myers received
psychotherapeutic training through the Helix Healing Ministry and is an
ordained Pastoral Counselor. She works with clients both in private practice and in groups. She teaches
the Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy workshops, assisting people in
finding ways to prepare for and avoid depression relapse, and deepening
their capacity to be proactive in their own mental health. She often
integrates mindfulness practices into her healing work with clients and
has been practicing meditation for over 10 years and teaching
meditative practices since 2002, with the Community of Mindfulness,
founded by Thich Nhat Hanh, her primary teacher.
She has presented "Storms Can't Hurt the Sky" with Gabriel Cohen, at Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health, and at the Omega Institute. Based on Cohen's book, this course teaches the use of mindfulness practices to deal with loss. Mary has been been a guest lecturer at venues including SUNY Purchase,
George Mason University and the Rubin Museum of Himalayan Art.
She
works with private clients, couples and groups in Manhattan.
For
Weddings, Vow Renewals and Baby Naming Ceremonies we will work together
to create a unique and personal ceremony that reflects both
the joy and the profound wonder of these life transitions.
In
Funerals and Memorial Services, I will help you create a ceremony that
reflects your lost one's personality and beliefs and that brings
comfort to their grieving loved ones.
